چکیده

The benefits from the use of the features attributes and the availability of different types of features on images (pointor linear-features) have raised the importance of using different feature-based transformation models for satellite image registration and terrain modeling. In the last decades, several research works have been conducted to facilitate the use of pointor linear-feature based transformation models for the satellite image orientation. However, most of these models depend on the availability of the sensor information (rigorous models) that may be withheld from user community. This research work presents a new form of the empirical 3D affine transformation model which can use either pointor linear-features for image registration and terrain modeling. The model is tested with different types of satellite sensors and the results show the applicability of the model with accuracy close to those from the rigorous models.

Contourlet-Based Edge Extraction for Image Registration

Image registration is a crucial step in most image processing tasks for which the final result is achieved from a combination of various resources. In general, the majority of registration methods consist of the following four steps: feature extraction, feature matching, transform modeling, and finally image resampling. As the accuracy of a registration process is highly dependent to the fe...

Rigorous Line-Based Transformation Model Using the Generalized Point Strategy for the Rectification of High Resolution Satellite Imagery

High precision geometric rectification of High Resolution Satellite Imagery (HRSI) is the basis of digital mapping and Three-Dimensional (3D) modeling. Taking advantage of line features as basic geometric control conditions instead of control points, the Line-Based Transformation Model (LBTM) provides a practical and efficient way of image rectification. It is competent to build the mathematica...

High-resolution Satellite Imagery: a Review of Metric Aspects

With the era of commercial high-resolution earth observation satellites having dawned with the launch in September, 1999 of Ikonos-2, it is imperative that there is an understanding in the photogrammetric and remote sensing communities of the full metric potential of high-resolution satellite line scanner imagery. This paper discusses the metric exploitation of 1m satellite imagery, and specifi...

Epipolar Resampling of Cross-Track Pushbroom Satellite Imagery Using the Rigorous Sensor Model

Epipolar resampling aims to eliminate the vertical parallax of stereo images. Due to the dynamic nature of the exterior orientation parameters of linear pushbroom satellite imagery and the complexity of reconstructing the epipolar geometry using rigorous sensor models, so far, no epipolar resampling approach has been proposed based on these models. In this paper for the first time it is shown t...

The Bamiyan project: multi-resolution image-based modeling

The goal of the Bamiyan project of the Institute of Geodesy and Photogrammetry, ETH Zurich, started in July 2001, is the terrain modeling of the area, the 3D reconstruction of the two lost Buddha statues in Bamiyan as well the actual empty niches and the documentation of the UNESCO cultural heritage site with a topographic and tourist information system. Different types of images, with differen...
